Royal News Roundup: 2 New Portraits, Prince Harry's Surprise Website Launch & Prince William's Fast Food Pit Stop

Here, all the royal news you need to know for the week of October 22, 2020.

  • We also learned this week that Queen Elizabeth had quite the demand for Prince Philip before their wedding day. In his book, Bryan Kozlowski also reveals that Her Majesty had made it clear she was not a fan of her future hubby’s smoking habit and insisted that he quit before they officially became man and wife. And according to the book, it worked.

  • This week, Prince William followed in the footsteps of his late mother, Princess Diana. On Wednesday, the Duke of Cambridge, 38, stopped by The Royal Marsden in honor of the building of the Trust’s Oak Cancer Centre. The appearance comes 30 years after Princess Diana paid a similar visit to the iconic hospital. The royal family documented the moment by sharing a slideshow of photos on the Cambridges’ joint Instagram account, @kensingtonroyal.

  • Prince Harry and Meghan Markle (finally!) launched an online destination for their new non-profit organization, Archewell. Naturally, royal (and non-royal) fans are already freaking out on Twitter. The Archewell website is fairly simple, featuring a basic homepage that encourages visitors to provide their email address, so they can receive updates about the charity.

  • Earlier this week, Meghan Markle and Alexis Ohanian got candid about discrimination, the tech world and their experiences with raising mixed race children. The Duchess of Sussex and the Reddit co-founder recently chatted during TIME100 Talks and discussed the negativity that they've had to deal with first-hand. During the chat, we also got another look inside their gorgeous California mansion (and it seems that they made some major decor upgrades).

  • On his way to one of his royal outings on Monday, Prince William made an unexpected pitstop that has us saying “same.” Before meeting with finalists from Kate Middleton's Hold Still community project, the Duke of Cambridge couldn’t help but take a sneak a peek into the window of a KFC in London. Of course, KFC wasted no time in sharing a photo of the moment.
