As part of Arvada West’s ceremony, Halladay’s family was invited to be at the event. They were joined by some of Halladay’s former teammates from the 1994 state championship team. Halladay was a junior the year the high school took home the state championship. He graduated in 1995 and was drafted by the Blue Jays in the first round of the 1995 draft. He made his major-league debut for Toronto three years later.
Halladay’s father, Roy Halladay Sr., attended the event. He extolled the virtues Halladay displayed during his life and said he “learned a lot” from his son.
