ROUNDUP: Union girls roll past Riverside

Jan. 23—The Union High girls basketball team breezed to a win Monday night.

The Lady Scots led by 25 points after the first quarter en route to a 57-15 WPIAL nonsection home victory over Riverside. Union (12-5) has won seven games in a row.

The Lady Scots raced to a 26-1 lead and increased it to 44-5 at the half.

Kelly Cleaver and Kylie Fruehstorfer netted 18 points each for Union. Mia Preuhs was next with eight.

Cleaver recorded eight rebounds and three assists, while Preuhs posted five boards and four steals. Addie Nogay chipped in three rebounds for the Lady Scots.

Emma Thellman tallied six points for the Lady Panthers.

Union entertains Aquinas Academy at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.

Wilmington 51,

Greenville 21

The Lady Greyhounds raced to an 18-2 lead and coasted to a District 10, 4-3A/4A road victory over the Trojanettes.

"I thought we played a really good defensive game," Wilmington coach Mike Jeckavitch said. "It was a complete effort on the defensive end."

Lia Krarup tossed in 18 points to pace Wilmington (5-1 region, 12-4 overall) and Sarah Dieter was next with seven.

Payton Davis scored nine markers for Greenville (3-3, 6-8).

Wilmington travels to Sharpsville at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.

Shenango 22

Shaye Bailey poured in a game-high 40 points to pace the Lady Bulldogs to a Section 1-2A home victory over the Lady Wildcats.

Shenango (1-7, 3-13) trailed 24-8 after one period and 45-14 at the half.

Amara DeFrank scored nine points for the Lady Wildcats.

Freedom is 6-2, 8-8.

Shenango visits Riverside at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.
