Rookie stat projections: Minnesota Vikings

With the NFL draft over and rookie camps underway, it is a good time to evaluate the draft picks and see what kind of impacts the projected contributors will make.

Let’s take a look at the Vikings draft picks and project some stats for the team’s early draftees:

Wide Receiver Jordan Addison

Catches: 75
Receiving yards: 1,100
Touchdowns: 9

The Vikings reloaded at the receiver position during the draft after the departure of franchise great Adam Thielen with the selection of Jordan Addison, and he will be expected to produce right away. Addison was considered the top receiver prospect by multiple teams and has the physical ability to take over games. He should be the perfect complement to the All-Pro receiver opposite of him in Justin Jefferson.

Cornerback Mekhi Blackmon

Interceptions: 3
Passes defended: 7

There is a lot of unknowns in the Vikings secondary, which leaves the door open for Minnesota’s third round pick to come in and start right away at corner. Blackmon is a tough and physical corner who should fit right into this new Brian Flores defense.

Defensive back Jay Ward

Another piece to a budding secondary, Jay Ward will add a lot of versatility after playing at multiple positions in the secondary at LSU. He will be an important depth piece, and can force himself into starting snaps early in his career.
