Romanian soccer players pose with stray dogs before matches to encourage pet adoption

Dogs are running with the soccer players!

Soccer players in Romania in the Professional Football League (Liga Profesionistă de Fotbal) are joining with the “Fill the gap in your life” campaign by partnering with local shelters, encouraging adoptions before every game by holding dogs up before the start of matches.

The first time this took event took place was before a match between Fotbal Club FCSB and Dinamo Bucharest last Sunday, according to a press release.

Each of the dogs on the field has a special name and wears a unique scarf to that they wear so people interested in adoption could find the dogs easier, according to People Magazine.

The “Fill the gap in your life” campaign added in a press release that all the dogs have already been vaccinated, spayed or neutered, dewormed and are ready to be taken back to their forever homes.

The program has thus far achieved the adoption of 11 dogs out of 92 and the partnership with the soccer teams will continue for the rest of the season.
