Rockies call up sizzling Rodgers for Friday debut

Top prospect Brendan Rodgers will join the Colorado Rockies for the start of a three-game road series with the Philadelphia Phillies on Friday, according to multiple reports.

He is batting .356 with nine homers and 21 RBIs and 34 runs in 35 games at Triple-A Albuquerque.

The Rockies will need to make a roster move to add the 22-year-old to the 25-man roster.

Primarily a second baseman with the Isotopes, Rodgers was drafted in the first round (No. 3 overall) in 2015 as a shortstop and has also played third base.
