Jon Heyman reports that MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred and MLBPA Executive Director Tony Clark had “what’s being called a productive meeting face-to-face in Arizona.”
Heyman says that the in-person meeting was called at Manfred’s request, which makes sense given that the ball, negotiations-wise, was in his court. As you’ll recall, the last exchange involved Clark challenging MLB to put out a schedule and tell the players “when and where” they’re going to play. Manfred, in response, went on ESPN on Monday and said that he was not certain there would be a season at all.
There are no details yet about what Clark and Manfred discussed, but at least it’s something.
