Setup for festival season in Indio will be underway next week, with the closure of Avenue 50 between Monroe Street and Madison Avenue starting on Monday. The closure will run through May 8.

Alternate routes include Highway 111, Dr. Carreon Boulevard, Avenue 48 and Avenue 52. These will remain during the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, which starts on April 14, and the Stagecoach country music festival, starting April 28. Both events are held at the Empire Polo Club.

“This is the first year Avenue 50 has been closed in advance of the events, to allow for pre-show setup, so we wanted to let residents and businesses know in advance about alternate routes,” said Indio Community Services Manager Jim Curtis. “The road closure is necessary to protect the safety of workers, residents and commuters.”

Coachella takes place across two consecutive weekends, April 14 to 16 and April 21 to 23. Stagecoach takes place April 28 to 30.

Additional closures and access routes in Indio will be announced next week, according to a release from the city. For concert logistics, questions or issues, call 760-391-4112 or email concertinfo@indio.org.
