Some prospects are easy to get a read on while others effectively play things close to the vest. Three-star wide receiver Ian Thomas is one of those guys that was just tough to read but today all the speculation has ended.
The 6-foot-1, 193-pound wide receiver from Reisertown (Md.) Franklin took official visits to Vanderbilt, Rutgers and Iowa over a period of three months with his trip to Iowa being the most recent. All of those schools plus schools like Michigan State, Notre Dame, Penn State, North Carolina, Stanford, West Virginia and Wisconsin, among others, had offered.
Thomas narrowed his decision down to Vanderbilt, Rutgers, Iowa and Virginia in the end and made his choice at his school on Signing Day.
"I am going to Rutgers," said Thomas. "I have a great relationship with the players and I think they have a very good chance of winning the Big East."
Thomas chose the Scarlet Knights despite the departure of Greg Schiano just a week before Signing Day. The hire of RU assistant coach Kyle Flood helped keep him in the fold.
Thomas is ranked the No. 56 wide receiver in the nation and the No. 13 prospect in Maryland.
