Hundreds of soccer fans in South Africa tore apart Moses Mabhida Stadium in the city of Durban following a 2-0 loss by the Kaizer Chiefs in the semifinals of the Nedbank Cup.

Amid the chaos, one security guard was brutally attacked by a group of rioters while others set fire to seats, invaded the field and destroyed television cameras and other items near the player tunnels.

The disturbing scene was covered in detail by the Associated Press, but video of the incident paints an upsetting picture.

As a warning, the clips below are a bit graphic.

According to the AP, only two people have been arrested so far with more likely to come. The club had already been fined $20,000 earlier in the season for fans throwing objects onto the field.

Moses Mabhida Stadium was opened in 2009 and was a central venue during the 2010 World Cup. The building hosted a memorable semi-final matchup with Spain defeating Germany 1-0 on its way to the country’s first World Cup championship.

More recently, the stadium was used during the 2013 African Cup of Nations and is the home of AmaZulu F.C.

Kaizer Chiefs coach Steve Komphela immediately resigned following the game, telling the AP, “If I’m the trigger for this (the violence), then maybe one has to say, ‘maybe step aside’.”
