Rihanna vs KD and LeBron saving Melo’s Life | Dunk Bait

LeBron saving Melo’s life, Drop the Jordan documentary, and Chris Haynes dropping raps.

Video Transcript

LAJETHRO JENKINS: Stay safe and stay inside, you [BLEEP].

Welcome to "Dunk Bait," where we talk a little bit basketball, and other things, as well. Talking how LeBron saved Melo's life, Rihanna burst KD on IG Live, NBA execs taking pay cuts, and the power of NBA Twitter. Also, Chris Haynes dropped a song. That's-- how LeBron saved Melo. So the banana boat, they were out doing their thing. Melo gets a little farther out in the water than he plans to. And Bron jumps in and saves the man's life. Did y'all see that on live?

ZACH SCHWARTZ: Yeah. I can't believe that.

JOSIAH JOHNSON: I mean, I feel like LeBron might have saved Melo's life on the Banana Boat. But he could have brought him to the Lakers and really saved his life. So--

LAJETHRO JENKINS: Saved his career!

JOSIAH JOHNSON: He let that man drown in Portland. So--

ZACH SCHWARTZ: I had the same joke written down. I rewatched the finals from that first Spurs heat series, that game when Ray Allen pulls out the three to save the heat in game six. You know who else LeBron saved that series, who else LeBron's life he saved? Dwayne Wade. Dwyane Wade was [BLEEP] awful in that game. Completely no joke, terrible!

LeBron hit, like, 30 in that game and just kept going. He was awesome.

JOSIAH JOHNSON: Black people, if you can't swim, don't go in the water. I know banana boats look exciting. I know they're intriguing, looking how fast they splash and all that. But stay on the shore. Watch from the sidelines. Keep your ass out of the water.

LAJETHRO JENKINS: Bron jumped in there to save Melo, pulled him in with one arm, did what Melo couldn't do with his whole body with one arm. That was crazy to me. There was a live where, was it, Sean Garret versus The-Dream? They were like going like hit for hit, basically. I think-- did y'all watch it at all? I watched some of it.

ZACH SCHWARTZ: I did not.

LAJETHRO JENKINS: I could not watch because of Sean Garrett's face. The face that Sean made. Dude, keep your tongue in your mouth, dog. We're adults. You know what I mean? You thirsty. You out here a horny dog on the internet. Stop it! OK? But KD and Rihanna had a little back and forth. It was pretty interesting.

ZACH SCHWARTZ: Was it Rihanna that he got into it with, where he was like, it was against LeBron. She's obviously a huge LeBron fan. And he's coming down the court, hitting threes, and turning, talking [BLEEP] to her going back? I love KD, man.

LAJETHRO JENKINS: I love it. I love it. I love it.

JOSIAH JOHNSON: That was one of those Warrior squads that cheated to be LeBron, right, if I'm not mistaken, miraculously.

I mean, I just understand where Rihanna's frustration is from. She seems like she likes things to be fair balanced in what they were pulling back there.

But my favorite thing about this whole thing was just seeing that obviously, KD had got diagnosed with coronavirus not too long ago. He seems to be in good spirits. He seems to be out here cracking jokes. So hopefully, KD's making a full recovery, getting better, like he did LeBron in numerous NBA finals.

LAJETHRO JENKINS: Yeah, well, that 2017 with Herbie, man. He was the best player on the court. Best player in the world to win that series, but yeah. I'm glad he's healthy.

We wanted to give a shout out to the NBA execs taking pay cuts like Adam Silver, stuff like that. That's super dope. We've seen a lot of players donating as well. Even Steph Curry jumped on Live with Dr. Fauci.

ZACH SCHWARTZ: Steph Curry, Anthony Fauci interview is terrific.

JOSIAH JOHNSON: Yeah.

ZACH SCHWARTZ: I thought he hit on a lot of questions that it just seems like the media's just sort of circled around and not actually gone to and asked. And I thought it was really helpful. So sout out to Steph for taking the time to do that and shout out to Anthony Fauci for sitting down to do it, 'cause God only knows how busy he is right now.

LAJETHRO JENKINS: But the NBA as a whole has really handled this really well. I mean, even with them being the first to really suspend the season, I mean, I think they have really saved lives by acting the way they have, you know what I mean? And so, it's really been cool to see, for sure.

JOSIAH JOHNSON: I want to give a shot out to NBA Twitter, too, because we've been running the Full Court Press on all types of shenanigans going on. The Sixers tried to reduce salary for staff. We ran up on them. He said, give me a double burger with cheese. ESPN was trying not to run the WNBA draft on ESPN. They were trying to put it on ESPN2. Said no, no, no. Go ahead and give us a double burger with cheese with that one, too.

NBA Twitter has been playing bully ball, getting the job done but just showing that the good of humanity and everybody's kind of doing the right thing now and stepping up to the plate.

LAJETHRO JENKINS: We're the bumpers on the bowling alley. We'll talk dummy [BEEP] to each other. But when it came to the betterment of humanity, we're all on the same side.

JOSIAH JOHNSON: But one thing the NBA Twitter cannot do is get this Jordan doc released. I know everybody's dead desert thirsty for it. They must think, like, ESPN has it in the vault and like the post-production teams aren't putting their work right now go around the clock trying to get it ready to go. 'Cause my thing is this, like, if ESPN had that thing ready to go, of course they would have dropped it. It's a pandemic.

LAJETHRO JENKINS: I think it's not as easy to just say, hey. We need to drop it now.

ZACH SCHWARTZ: And I'm sure Josiah's probably right. Like, post-production, they're still mixing stuff. I just hope that it's far enough along that they're safe with everything, they got all their footage they need, so.

LAJETHRO JENKINS: I would love the distraction. Instead, we're watching a bunch of Tiger King. The point of it now, nobody's right. Hopefully at the end, somebody comes out of this at least decent.

ZACH SCHWARTZ: Listen, man.

LAJETHRO JENKINS: What up?

ZACH SCHWARTZ: When you watch Breaking Bad, Walter White wasn't a good guy. But you loved him at the end and--

LAJETHRO JENKINS: But it's fake. These are real humans being horrible.

ZACH SCHWARTZ: Bad guy, but I [BEEP] love Joe Exotic. And, you know what? It kills me.

LAJETHRO JENKINS: To the homie, Chris Haynes dropped a song.

[MUSIC - CHRIS HAYNES, "I GOT NO GAMES TO COVER"] Don't tell me how to feel. Yo, I said, I got no games to cover.

[MUSIC - CHRIS HAYNES, "YOU'LL HAVE TO LISTEN TO CHRIS"] C Haynes, here to rap and never slackin'. Report and commit. They call me dark when I'm dreamin', but now--

LAJETHRO JENKINS: He hit me with them before he dropped them, too. He was like, what do you think? I'm like, it's not bad at all. But the internet doesn't give a [BEEP]. They are going to clown you.

But it seemed like the response has been pretty good.

JOSIAH JOHNSON: I liked the first track he did. I think anytime these dudes step outside their comfort zone and really drop it, drop some heat, you got to roll with it.

LAJETHRO JENKINS: He knew what the responses that were going to come, you know what I'm saying? And he still dropped it. That's so dope to me, like not taking himself too seriously and finding other ways to be creative. I got games to cov-ah!

That's a wrap for "Dunk Bait." Appreciate y'all [BEEP], you know what I'm saying? I'm LajethroJenkins.

JOSIAH JOHNSON: What's up? I'm Kingjosiah54.

ZACH SCHWARTZ: I'm Zachzachzach. Everyone stay safe and God, I hope you find ways to entertain yourself right now.

LAJETHRO JENKINS: Stay safe and stay inside, you [BEEP] weirdos.
