In a release from team representatives this evening, Cal announced that right guard Dwayne Wallace is no longer associated with the football program, with the text of that release below.
"Cal football head coach Justin Wilcox announced Thursday that offensive lineman Dwayne Wallace is no longer associated with the school’s football program. Wallace was a member of the program for one season in 2016 after transferring to Cal from Riverside City College."
Wallace was listed as the starting right guard on the previous depth chart, and he started 9 games at the right guard spot a year ago, including the final seven.
The loss of Wallace brings the depth of an already shaky unit down that much more, with Semisi Uluave likely being a candidate to move into the spot. This also solidifies the reasoning for adding on former Oregon guard Valentino Daltoso earlier this week, who was announced as a scholarship player earlier this week.
This could also open up early playing time for 2017 signee Poutasi Poutasi, depending on how well he transitions to the college level during fall camp.
