It can be difficult to process all the craziness that took place in the final minutes of the Kansas City Chiefs’ 42-36 overtime victory over the Buffalo Bills in Sunday’s AFC Divisional playoff game at Arrowhead Stadium.

What Happened: Following offsetting penalties on a previous Buffalo punt, KC coach Andy Reid elected to make the Bills kick it again. That was a good call, as Hill broke into the clear and nearly scored, getting tripped up eventually by Bills punter Matt Haack. KC followed with a three-and-out, though, and had to settle for a field goal.

Josh Allen throws 27 yards for touchdown to Gabriel Davis

Time: 2:00 left in fourth quarter

Score after Play: Bills 27-26

What Happened: On fourth-and-13, Davis ran such a good route that he made KC defender Mike Hughes fall down, freeing himself for a 27-yard score that put Buffalo back in front. Allen added a pass to Stefon Diggs for the two-point conversion to extend the Bills’ lead to three.

Patrick Mahomes throws 64 yards for touchdown to Tyreek Hill

Time: 1:02 left in fourth quarter

Score after Play: Chiefs 32-29

What Happened: Hill beat a double-team across the middle, catching it at the 50 before turning on the jets to sail into the end zone down the right sideline (while flashing his patented “Deuces” peace sign along the way). Harrison Butker’s point-after gave the Chiefs a four-point lead late.

Josh Allen throws 19 yards for touchdown to Gabriel Davis

Time: 13 seconds left in fourth quarter

Score after Play: Bills 35-33

What Happened: Davis took advantage of miscommunication from the KC’s defense before the snap, cutting to the middle in front of the Chiefs’ L’Jarius Sneed for what seemed then like it would be the game-deciding score. Tyler Bass’ kick gave Buffalo a three-point advantage at 36-33.

What Happened: Mahomes needed just 10 seconds to get the Chiefs in field-goal range. He hit Hill for 19 yards, then freelanced with Travis Kelce for a 25-yard pickup. That set up Butker — he’d missed a field goal and extra-point earlier in the contest — for a clutch moment, as his kick drifted just to the inside of the left upright to send the game to overtime.
