The Revs keep checking things off their Christmas wish list.

Two days after announcing the addition of Colombian left back Christian Mafla, New England continued bolstering its 2021 roster with another international acquisition, signing Cameroonian midfielder Wilfrid Kaptoum.

The 24-year-old has played the last six seasons in Spain for FC Barcelona, Real Betis, and most recently playing on loan for Unión Deportiva Almería in the Segunda División.

“Wilfrid Kaptoum is a talented central midfielder who has been developed in an excellent soccer culture. He will bring a great work ethic and experience to our team,” Revolution Sporting Director and Head Coach Bruce Arena said in the team's press release. “Wilfrid’s pace and passing ability will help strengthen our midfield. We believe he will be a quality addition to the Revolution, and we look forward to his arrival in Foxborough.”

Arena wasn't the only one enthused about the addition, as Kaptoum took to social media to share his excitement about coming to New England.

Kaptoum joined Barcelona's youth academy when he was just 12 years old and made his pro debut six years later. He has gone on to make more than 100 professional appearances, including three caps with Barcelona's first team and action in La Liga, UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League, and Copa del Rey.
