Gabe Kapler, manager for the Philadelphia Phillies, wanted to make sure he was taking extra precaution when speaking with media personnel about Bryce Harper's reported move to Philly.

Kapler kept repeating, "If the reports are true," making sure he give the didn't say anything with certainty before double-checking for himself.

Kapler said that he learned about Harper's signing from fans sitting behind the dugout at the Phillies' spring training game against the Blue Jays on Thursday.

"We had some fans behind us who were sharing moments by moments tweets with us," Kapler said with a smile. "We were getting literally four fans right behind where we were sitting telling us terms and who was tweeting what. We're like, ‘Well, who was making these reports? We want to make sure this person is credible.'"
