Reports: Leonard Fournette unlikely to play vs. Colts

It doesn’t look like Jacksonville Jaguars rookie Leonard Fournette is going to merely shake off and shrug at a leg injury he suffered last week in a defeat against the Los Angeles Rams.

Reports from NFL Network and ESPN paint a dim picture for the running back’s availability on Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts:

Fournette, the NFL’s second-leading rusher this season with 596 yards, suffered a sprained ankle in the fourth quarter last Sunday. Doctors cleared him to return to the game, but he didn’t as the Jags fell to 3-3 on the season.

If indeed he Fournette misses Sunday’s game, the Jaguars are expected to turn to Chris Ivory and T.J. Yeldon to carry the rushing load. Heck, probably the offensive load in general, if offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett is to be believed.

“I think right now we want to roll and … run the ball downhill,” he told ESPN.com.
