Reports: Hawks F Muscala opts in for 2018-19

Forward Mike Muscala will remain with the Atlanta Hawks after exercising his $5 million player option for the 2018-19 season, according to multiple reports Sunday.

Muscala, who turns 27 the same day free agency opens on July 1, averaged 7.6 points and 4.3 rebounds in 20.0 minutes per game last season, all career highs, after signing a one-year deal with a one-year option last summer.

He has spent most of the last five seasons with the Hawks after a brief stretch in Spain's Liga ACB in 2013. The Bucknell product was a second-round pick of the Dallas Mavericks in 2013 and was traded to Atlanta on draft night. In 243 NBA games, he has shot 37.8 percent from 3-point range, including 37.1 percent last season.

Muscala's opt-in comes days after Hawks center Dewayne Dedmon did the same, keeping Atlanta's two most experience frontcourt players in the fold.
