Warriors' Kevon Looney suffered fractured collarbone in Game 2 fall

The Golden State Warriors announced Monday that forward Kevon Looney suffered a fractured collarbone when he took a hard fall during Sunday’s Game 2 win over the Toronto Raptors.

He is out indefinitely and unlikely to return to the series.

The Warriors also announced that Klay Thompson suffered a mild hamstring strain in the same game and is listed as questionable for Wednesday’s Game 3.

DeMarcus Cousins steps up in Looney’s absence

Looney’s injury forced the Warriors to hoist significant minutes on DeMarcus Cousins, who was back for his second playoff game on Sunday after missing most of the postseason with a quad injury suffered in the first round against the Los Angeles Clippers.

Golden State also looked to Andrew Bogut in Looney’s absence. Both played well as the Warriors tied the series at 1-1.

Injuries pile up for Golden State

Thompson and Looney’s injuries would be magnified if neither Thompson nor Kevin Durant are available on Wednesday, which would leave the Warriors down three significant rotation players with a chance to take control of the series.

The Warriors have thrived in the playoffs despite numerous ailments, but they’re seeing their biggest injury test yet as the stakes are at their highest.
