Report: Vikings at Texas A&M’s pro day to watch QB Kellen Mond, others

With all the enticing quarterbacks in this year’s draft, it would be interesting if the Vikings decided to take a quarterback who could develop behind Kirk Cousins.

Sure, Trevor Lawrence and Zach Wilson are most likely off the table at this point, assuming the team doesn’t trade up. However, there are plenty of quarterbacks beyond those two, some of whom have the potential to wind up as starting-caliber players.

Texas A&M’s Kellen Mond would be an interesting choice. Mond has a quick release and can make plays, even when he’s under pressure. The Vikings were in attendance for Texas A&M’s pro day to watch Mond, according to Senior Bowl executive director Jim Nagy.

KSTP’s Darren Wolfson added that Minnesota is there for Mond and others. He did not specify the prospects the Vikings were focusing on. At the pro day, there are players like LB Buddy Johnson and LT Dan Moore Jr., who fit needs for the Vikings, though.

Minnesota has attended plenty of other schools’ pro days. Just this week, Vikings GM Rick Spielman has been to Miami’s and Ohio State’s pro day events, per Chris Tomasson of the Pioneer Press.
