Report: Two-way player Lindy Waters III signed to a standard NBA deal

The Oklahoma City Thunder have converted two-way player Lindy Waters III into a standard NBA contract.

The Thunder signed Waters III to a two-year, $3.8 million deal with a team option for the 2023-24 season, per The Athletic’s Shams Charania.

This move comes roughly 12 hours after the Thunder surprisingly waived Eugene Omoruyi, who was also signed onto a standard deal two weeks prior.

This move gives Waters III financial security after being on a two-way deal over the last two seasons. The timing of this news is impeccable as Waters III scored a season-high 12 points against the Sacramento Kings and 18 points for the G League’s OKC Blue on Sunday,

In 25 games, Waters III is averaging 4.4 points and is shooting 36.9% from 3 on 3.4 attempts.

The Thunder now have an open two-way spot on the roster with Waters III’s graduation to the 15-man roster. The other two-way spot is currently occupied by Olivier Sarr, who has yet to play for the Thunder this season.
