Report: Titans already showing interest in J.J. Watt

On the same day he was released by the Houston Texans, free agent defensive end J.J. Watt is reportedly already drawing interest from several teams, including the Tennessee Titans.

The report comes from ESPN’s Ed Werder, who notes that about a dozen teams have expressed interest but specifically named the Titans, Pittsburgh Steelers, Cleveland Browns and Buffalo Bills.

This comes as absolutely no surprise, as the Titans are in desperate need of an upgrade to bolster their pass rush after finishing with 19 sacks in 2020, the third-fewest in the NFL.

Granted, Watt isn’t the same player he once was but would still be better than pretty much anything Tennessee has now and his leadership would be invaluable for the Titans’ younger players.

Watt already has multiple connections to the Titans. Head coach Mike Vrabel was Watt’s defensive coordinator for one season in Houston back in 2017, and he spent four seasons on the Texans’ coaching staff in total.

If the interest is mutual and the price is right, the Titans should absolutely bring Watt aboard.
