Report: NHRA Drivers Involved in Single-Car Crash in Indiana, One Seriously Injured
According to multiple reports, an NHRA Top Fuel driver suffered life-threatening injuries in a single-vehicle crash Sunday night in Hendricks County, Ind., which is county where this past weekend's Dodge NHRA Indy Nationals event at Lucas Oil Raceway was held.
According to the Hendricks County Sheriff's Office, Dom Lagana, 34, was driving a 1957 Chevrolet Wagon that went off the road and hit a utility pole. Lagana suffered life-threatening injuries. His passengers in the car, Richie Crampton, 40, and Jacob Sanders, 30, were injured, but their injuries were not life-threatening. Lagana is from Scarsdale, N.Y., while Crampton and Stallings both list Brownsburg, Ind., as their residence.
Lagana last drove in the NHRA's Top Fuel class in 2018. Crampton drove a Top Fuel dragster in 2019 for Kalitta Motorsports. Crampton won the 2014 U.S. Nationals as a rookie at Lucas Oil Raceway in 2014.
The crash happened just after 11 p.m. on Sunday night, and deputies said speed appeared to be a factor.
