The NBA and National Basketball Players Association have agreed to a December 1 deadline date for players to opt out of the 2020-21 season, The Athletic's Sham Charania reported Saturday.
Sources: The NBA and NBPA have agreed that players who elect not to play in 2020-21 season must notify of election by Dec. 1. Players who elect not to play will be prohibited from signing a contract for which 2020-21 season is covered.

The option was adopted prior to the NBA restart last July for players concerned about participating in Orlando amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Nine players ended up exercising that right over the summer.
