Michigan State head coach Mel Tucker suspended without pay

Michigan football’s in-state rival, MSU, was flying high after its second win of the season. It defeated Football Championship Subdivision level program Richmond in Week 2.

The Spartans were starting to hope head coach Mel Tucker’s 2023 would more strongly resemble his 2021 campaign.

Instead on Saturday night multiple media outlets dropped a bombshell outlining sexual misconduct by Tucker. Some was alleged, some admitted. From that point, it appeared only a matter of time until Tucker wasn’t the head coach in East Lansing anymore.

Michigan State’s interim president and athletic director called a 5 p.m. EDT press conference on Sunday. At it, Michigan State announced Tucker had been suspended without pay pending the results of the investigation.
