The LeBron James media train keeps moving forward in Los Angeles.

SpringHill Entertainment, one of James’ media collaborations with business partner Maverick Carter, has sold a script to NBC for a sitcom inspired by the life of Philadelphia 76ers point guard Ben Simmons, Deadline Hollywood reports.

LeBron James has strong deal in place for sitcom script

That doesn’t mean the script will turn into a show. The industry magazine reports that NBC “has given a script commitment plus penalty” for “Brotherly Love,” envisioned as a single-camera sitcom.

Per “Film Escape,” the “plus penalty” clause is a status reserved for high-profile producers and writers that insures they will be paid a substantial fee if the pilot is never produced or aired.

So while it’s not guaranteed to see the airwaves, everything is lined up for the pilot to succeed.

Sitcom inspired by Ben Simmons’ life

Kourtney Kang, former executive producer of ABC sitcom “Fresh Off the Boat,” is also part of the production team, according to the report. Simmons and his brother Sean Tribe will reportedly work as consulting producers on the show inspired by their upbringing.

Per Deadline Hollywood:

Written by Kang’s brother, Patrick Kang, and Michael Levin, Brotherly Love is inspired by the life of Ben Simmons and centers on a unique sibling relationship within a multi-ethnic family. Together, they pursue their dreams while navigating life in the spotlight in Philadelphia, a passionate city where sports is in your blood, and your blood is always boiling.

Levin is a host of popular 76ers podcast “Rights to Ricky Sanchez.”

Simmons, James have strong bond

James and Simmons developed a bond during Simmons’ rookie season that was evident when the two interacted on the court during Cavs-76ers games. Their relationship led to speculation that James would join the 76ers before he ultimately chose to play for the Los Angeles Lakers.

The two have been seen teaming up in pick-up games this summer and have now found an avenue to develop their bond and their personal business off the court.
