After spending four years in San Antonio, Kyle Anderson might have a new home.

The restricted free agent Anderson has signed a four-year, $37.2 million offer sheet with the Grizzlies, according to a report from ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. The Spurs will now have 48 hours to match the offer or lose their 24-year-old wing.

The deal matches the full mid-level exception deal that non-luxury tax-paying teams can hand out.

Anderson posted a career season last year, averaging career highs in minutes (26.7 per game), points (7.9), field-goal percentage (52.7), assists (2.7) and rebounds (5.4). The former first-rounder out of UCLA also served an important role on defense for the Spurs thanks to his versatility.

Despite that improvement and versatility, committing $37.2 million to a player that has averaged 4.9 points per game in a four-year career is a somewhat eyebrow-raising move for Memphis, which went 22-60 last season and seems headed toward a full rebuild with No. 4 overall pick Jaren Jackson Jr. in the fold.

Smart move or not, it’s still likely news the Spurs were hoping they wouldn’t have to deal with. The Spurs are already mired in a painful offseason, with the Kawhi Leonard situation still looming and franchise cornerstone Tony Parker heading to Charlotte. Now, they have a choice to make on Anderson.
