Report: Jayson Tatum expected to miss 10-14 days due to NBA's COVID-19 protocols
The Boston Celtics will reportedly be without one of their best players for at least 10 days. Forward Jayson Tatum is expected to go into quarantine under the league’s COVID-19 protocols, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.

The situation appears to have also taken out Washington Wizards star Bradley Beal, whom Charania later reported is out for Saturday’s game against the Miami Heat due to health and safety protocols. According to Charania, the league is concerned about Beal having been in close proximity to Tatum during a postgame conversation on Friday.
Tatum, 22, played 35 minutes against the Wizards on Friday. He scored 32 points in the 116-107 Celtics win, while Beal posted 41 points.
It’s unclear whether Tatum tested positive for the virus, or if he’s considered a close contact to someone who tested positive. The Celtics played Friday’s game without three players — Tristan Thompson, Grant Williams and Robert Williams — due to the league’s health and safety protocols.
Celtics on four-game winning streak
Losing Tatum comes at a bad time for the Celtics. After starting the season 1-2, the team has won 6 of its last 7 games. Tatum has been a major part of that, averaging 27.7 point over that period.
Tatum would miss four games if he’s able to return after 10 days. The Celtics are set to play the Chicago Bulls, Miami Heat, New York Knicks and Orlando Magic over that period. If Tatum has to miss 14 days, he would also miss the team’s Jan. 20 game against the Philadelphia 76ers.
