Report: Giants trade Eli Apple to Saints
Fresh off a 23-20 loss to the Atlanta Falcons on Monday night, the New York Giants have traded cornerback Eli Apple to the New Orleans Saints, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Apple, a former first-round pick, has 22 tackles on the season, 20 of them solo. His first two years in the league, he totaled 98 tackles, 82 of them solo. He’s started 23 of the 30 games he has been available. He injured his ankle during Monday night’s game but returned to action later in the game. He recovered a fumble and had five tackles on the night.
Schefter reported that the Saints traded a fourth-round pick in 2019 and a seventh-round pick in 2020 for Apple. The Saints have long needed defensive secondary help, and had coveted Arizona’s Patrick Peterson. But Apple is a reasonable substitute, and he just jumped from a 1-6 team to a 5-1 one.
