Report: Free agent DE Clowney lowers asking price

Free agent defensive end Jadeveon Clowney dropped his asking price to $17 or $18 million per season, ESPN reported Wednesday.

That's down from the $20 million a year the three-time Pro Bowl selection had reportedly been seeking.

The Seattle Seahawks and Tennessee Titans remain interested in signing the 27-year-old former No. 1 overall draft pick, per the report.

Clowney tallied 31 tackles, three sacks, four forced fumbles and one interception in 13 games (11 starts) in his first season with Seattle in 2019. He missed time with a core muscle injury that required surgery after the season.

The Seahawks acquired Clowney prior to last season in a trade with the Houston Texans.

The top pick in the 2014 NFL Draft has 236 tackles, 32 sacks and nine forced fumbles in 75 career games (66 starts) with the Texans (2014-18) and Seahawks.
