Report: Former Hawks defenseman Slater Koekkoek signs with Oilers originally appeared on NBC Sports Chicago

TSN's Darren Dreger reported on Saturday that former Blackhawks defenseman Slater Koekkoek signed a one-year contract with the Edmonton Oilers.

Koekkoek, 26, played in all nine of the Hawks' 2020 playoff games—including four against the Oilers in the qualifying round.

The D-man, who became a restricted free agent in the offseason, was acquired by Chicago in a trade with the Tampa Bay Lightning in January of 2019.

Koekkoek recorded 10 points (one goal, nine assists) and a +/- rating of +3 in 42 contests with the Blackhawks during the 2019-20 regular season. He picked up three points (one goal, two assists) and was a +4 for the Hawks this past postseason.
