Report: Clippers shut down practice facility after positive COVID-19 test
The Los Angeles Clippers shut down their practice facility on Thursday after a positive COVID-19 test in the organization, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reports.
It’s not clear who tested positive or if the person infected is a player. It is somebody who is part of the Clippers’ travel plans for the NBA bubble at Disney World, according to the report. The Clippers are scheduled to travel to Florida next week.
The Clippers are the second team to shut down facilities after the Denver Nuggets closed their practice complex on Tuesday due to a positive test in the organization.
More new COVID-19 cases around league
The NBA announced earlier Thursday nine new positive COVID-19 cases among players. After announcing 16 positive tests last week, the league has a total of 25 new confirmed COVID-19 cases among players since league-organized testing began on June 23.
No players have self-identified since the NBA announced the new cases on Thursday.
NBA play is scheduled to resume on July 30 with 22 teams invited to play in the bubble league. After eight regular season games, the 16 teams that qualify for the playoffs will continue with the postseason across three different courts at the Disney World complex.
The Clippers will travel to Florida with a 44-20 record, good for second place in the Western Conference, 5.5 games behind the first-place Los Angeles Lakers. Head coach Doc Rivers said on Wednesday that he expects everyone on the roster to participate in the bubble league.
