Report: Boston’s Payton Pritchard a player of interest with the Phoenix Suns
Fans of the Boston Celtics assuming that reserve point guard Payton Pritchard might not have much in the way of trade value after his sparse floor time in the Celtics’ 2022-23 campaign and the postseason beyond it might be surprised to hear that the Oregon alum has been a target of note for at least one team in the league and a major part of the 2023 offseason’s trade landscape per new reporting from Yahoo Sports’ Jake Fischer.
Per Fischer, Pritchard “has several supporters in Phoenix’s front office” and “is expected to feature prominently in the NBA’s general trade landscape this summer,” when the West Linn native becomes eligible for an extension.
With the Suns exploring ways to get off of Chris Paul’s current contract, a move to deal for Pritchard could make sense as a low-cost option for the team to add to their already-thin point guard depth.

Moreover, Pritchard’s 40.0% 3-point shooting rate offers a tantalizing addition to a team already well-equipped to punish opponents from beyond the arc.
