Report: Blue Jays fire hitting coach Jacoby and first base coach Leiper
The turnover of the Blue Jays coaching staff has officially begun in the wake of the Charlie Montoyo hiring.
John Lott of The Athletic is reporting that the club has let go of two coaches:
#BlueJays GM Ross Atkins confirms hitting coach Brook Jacoby has been fired and a search is under way for a replacement. Story to come.

#BlueJays first-base coach Tim Lieper also fired, per Atkins.

Jacoby joined the team following the 2014 season. He coached one of the most extraordinary offences in club history in 2015, as well a couple of more forgettable groups of hitters – like the one he oversaw in last season that managed a .244/.312/.427 line.
Leiper was a local favourite who had been a staple of Baseball Canada coaching staffs at major international events. The 52-year-old had served as the team’s first base coach since 2014.
