Report: Bills sign K Tristan Vizcaino to practice squad
The Buffalo Bills appear to be adding a backup for kicker Tyler Bass. According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, the Bills will sign kicker Tristan Vizcaino to their practice squad.
Earlier this month it was reported that Vizcaino was going to be signed to the Bills (13-3) practice squad as an emergency backup in regard to COVID-19. All season long, Buffalo has employed a “quarantine quarterback” in rookie Jake Fromm, and ahead of the AFC title game vs. the Chiefs, another such backup appears to be in the fold.
In his career, Vizcaino, 24, has gone 3-for-3 on kicks. Vizcaino was a undrafted rookie in 2018 out of the University of Washington.
Since leaving school, Vizcaino has jumped around the NFL via stints during training camps, minicamps and practice squad appearances with the Jets, Bengals (twice), Cowboys, Vikings and 49ers.
In Week 17 this season is when Vizcaino made his debut. Perhaps why he would be of interest to the Bills in this role is because that’s exactly what got him to the 49ers.
Bass does currently list on Buffalo’s injured report with a hand injury. However, he played through that injury last week and he’s also a kicker.
