Redskins acquire QB Hogan from Browns

The Washington Redskins acquired quarterback Kevin Hogan from the Cleveland Browns, both teams announced Friday.

Washington also received a 2018 sixth-round pick (No. 205 overall) from Cleveland and shipped its sixth-round selection (No. 188) to the Browns.

Hogan played in eight games (one start) for the Browns over the past two seasons while passing for 621 yards and four touchdowns. He threw seven interceptions in 101 passing attempts.

Hogan reportedly received permission from the Browns earlier this week to seek a trade.

Friday's transaction means that Cleveland traded away each of its three quarterbacks from 2017. Starter DeShone Kizer was traded to the Green Bay Packers and backup Cody Kessler was dealt to the Jacksonville Jaguars.

The Browns traded for Tyrod Taylor from the Buffalo Bills and signed former Arizona Cardinals backup Drew Stanton so far this offseason. Cleveland also holds the No. 1 overall pick as well as the No. 4 selection in the upcoming NFL draft and is expected to target a quarterback.

Hogan was a college star at Stanford and was selected in the fifth round of the 2016 draft by the Kansas City Chiefs.
