Reddish To Duke

Villanova's top-ranked 2018 target announced his college decision on Friday evening as Westtown School (Pa.) small forward Cameron Reddish pledged to Duke over Villanova, Kentucky, UCLA and UConn.

A five-star prospect, Reddish had long been considered a long-shot for Villanova, but the staff remained in pursuit with the pitch of playing close to home and becoming the first one-and-done in the Jay Wright era. The interest was certainly mutual, as Reddish named Villanova in his final five at the end of July, but in any case, overcoming Mike Krzyzewski and the Blue Devils was too tall of a task.

Reddish now becomes the latest elite prospect to be erased from the Wildcats' big board. Five-star point guard Jahvon Quinerly committed to Arizona over Villanova last month and just days ago, four-star floor general Elijah Weaver excluded Nova from his final four.

Unlikely Quinerly and Weaver, though, Reddish was a miss that was essentially seen coming from a mile away.

Going forward, Jay Wright and his staff will continue to focus their attention on targets such as guards Jalen Carey and David Duke following yet another strike on the recruiting trail.

A 6-foot-8, 185-pound wing, Reddish is ranked No. 4 in the Rivals150.
