Comrie was claimed by the Coyotes off waivers from the Winnipeg Jets on October 1st and did not make an appearance with the club before being flipped to Detroit.
Saarijarvi has one assist in 13 games with the Grand Rapids Griffins this season.
The Red Wings were in trouble in the crease after Jimmy Howard exited Wednesday's game against the Maple Leafs with a knee injury, which forced backup Jonathan Bernier to enter the game while fighting an illness. The result was not pretty.
Comrie, 24, played in five NHL games with Winnipeg over three seasons. He posted a .870 save percentage and a 4.21 goals-against average over that time, with a 2-3 record. He was originally drafted by the Jets in the second round of the 2013 NHL Entry Draft.
