Tomase: Bloom has only one course of action over the next week

The 2023 World Baseball Classic will take place in Taichung, Taiwan, Tokyo, Phoenix, and Miami. Tournament qualifiers are scheduled for Sept. 2022 and the pool tournament will be held in March 2023.

Team USA won the event in 2017. They'll look to defend that title with Story joining a squad captained by Los Angeles Angels superstar Mike Trout.

Story is slashing .221/289/.423 with 15 homers, 58 RBI and 10 stolen bases through 81 games in his first season with Boston. The 29-year-old hit .272 with 158 homers, 450 RBI and a .863 OPS during his six-year tenure with the Colorado Rockies.
