Red Sox fan stabbed five times in fight with Dodgers fans after World Series Game 5

Yahoo Sports

A Boston Red Sox fan who lives in Los Angeles woke up the day after his favorite team won the World Series in a situation much different than he expected: He was in the hospital, many of his teeth missing, with a fractured nose and five stab wounds.

Josh Davis, 36, says he was attacked by a group of Los Angeles Dodgers fans Sunday night, following the Red Sox’s World Series win at Dodger Stadium. He’s in stable condition and recovering, but it’s an incident that brings to mind the brutal attack of Bryan Stow, the San Francisco Giants fan who was savagely beaten in 2011 at Dodger Stadium and now lives with brain damage. The key difference: The attack on Davis didn’t happen at the stadium.

Davis, who is from Massachusetts but now lives in L.A., isn’t in nearly that bad condition. He said he was walking home in Koreatown on Sunday night wearing his Red Sox gear when he was confronted by two men in Dodgers gear. Davis alleges they said to him, “Get your [expletive] out of here, this is Dodger country right here.” Davis says he believes they stabbed him with a screwdriver.

He further told Boston’s NECN:

“It should never come to beating the crap out of people, you know what I mean?” Davis said. “I got a lot of Dodger fan friends … I’m not going to let one bad apple ruin it for me … or 10.”

On Wednesday afternoon, Davis posted an update to his Facebook page that said:

Thank you all for keeping me in your prayers. sorry I haven’t responded back to most of you guys, just taking it easy right now. I’ll be in touch to thank each and everyone of you. One thing I have learned from this is to not indulge in trash talk with people u don’t know! After getting into a brawl with two Dudes the third one whistled for more help, in the blink of an eye I was surrounded by a large group of them and started to fear for my life and just started going Tanzanian devil after they started striking me. I wanted to keep this private at first due to them stealing my phone and wallet because they have a lot of my information! Now I’m hoping justice is served after the investigation

LAPD is investigating the case as assault with a deadly weapon and robbery, NECN reports, because Davis’ phone and wallet were also stolen. No arrests have been made yet.
