Recent NCAA violations reported by Ole Miss include one related to a football transfer
OXFORD — Two violations related to Ole Miss football paperwork and a mishap with the bill at a restaurant make up the three violations reported by the Rebels' athletic department from July 1, 2022, through April 29, 2023.
All three of the violations, obtained by The Clarion Ledger via an open records request, were labeled Level III violations – the least serious classification.
Both of the football-related violations were reported between Nov. 6 and Jan. 3.

The first came when Ole Miss reported that a football player had competed in a game prior to having his eligibility restored by Student-Athlete Reinstatement.
Reinstatement had been required due to the player's involvement in a "secondary infraction," but he was reinstated with no withholding and no repayment because he demonstrated a lack of culpability in the underlying violation, according to the document obtained.
The punishment for that violation was rules training.
The second football violation centered around a transfer ‒ something that has become central to Ole Miss football's identity under Lane Kiffin.
The football program reported that a transfer player had appeared in one game before he received a waiver from his previous institution to allow for immediate eligibility.
In response to the violation, Ole Miss made corrections to its institutional monitoring systems in order to "prevent future occurrences."
On Aug. 24, 2022, the Ole Miss softball program reported a violation related to a meal at a restaurant valued at $38.20.
The softball coaching staff bought a meal for a prospective recruit. The document states that the Ole Miss coaches requested separate bills for their meals and the food purchased by the prospective recruit and her father, but the restaurant mistakenly used the staff's card to pay for the food ordered by the recruit and her father.
In response, the recruit repaid the cost of the meal to the university and the coaching staff underwent rules education.
Ole Miss reported four violations between Jan. 1, 2022 and July 1, 2022, with football and men's basketball reporting two each.
