Recall Roundup: Nissan Issues Massive Recall Of 2007-2012 Versa

During the past week, Nissan North America (Nissan) recalled 515,394 Versa Sedan and Versa Hatchback vehicles from the 2007 through 2012 model years, due to a defect in the frontal air bag inflator. Fiat Chrysler Automobiles US (FCA US), Ford Motor Company (Ford), American Honda Motor Co. (Honda), and Toyota Motor (Toyota) also issued vehicle recalls.

2017 Acura MDX Sport

• Number of vehicles affected: 193

• Issue: An engine fuel feed hose and a fuel purge hose may have been misrouted during vehicle assembly.

• Remedy: Acura will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the routing of the fuel feed hose and the fuel purge hose. If misrouted, the hoses will be replaced and installed correctly free of charge.

• Timing: No date for the recall has been given. Owners may contact Acura customer service at 1-888-234-2138.

2017 Dodge Challenger

• Number of vehicles affected: 7,802

• Issue: The affected vehicles are equipped with 5.7-liter V-8 engines and 8-speed automatic transmissions. The transmission may not remain in the “Park” position if that gear is selected, the engine is still running, and the driver exits the vehicle.

• Remedy: FCA will notify owners, and dealers will update the transmission control module software free of charge.

• Timing: The recall is expected to begin August 21, 2017. Owners may contact FCA customer service at 1-800-853-1403.

2015-2017 Ford F-Series

• Number of vehicles affected: 14,410

• Issue: Ford is recalling certain 2015-2017 F-150 and 2017 F-250, F-350, F-450, and F-550 vehicles originally produced with black or body-colored exterior door handles that may have been subsequently equipped with a chrome exterior door handle cover accessory kit purchased from a Ford dealer. These accessory door handle covers may cause the doors to unlatch in a side-impact collision.

• Remedy: Ford will notify owners, and dealers will remove the accessory covers and refund the purchase price.

• Issue: On vehicles with 2.0-liter gas engines and 6-speed automatic transmissions, the torque converter weld studs may have been inadequately welded.

• Remedy: Ford or Lincoln will notify owners, and dealers will replace the torque converters free of charge.

• Timing: The recall is expected to begin August 14, 2017. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332.

2007-2011 Honda CR-V

• Number of vehicles affected: 629

• Issue: Honda is recalling certain 2007-2011 Honda CR-V vehicles that have had the passenger frontal air bag replaced. The air bag inflator repair kit may have been assembled by the supplier with an incorrect wire harness.

• Remedy: Honda will notify owners, and dealers will inspect and, if necessary, replace the passenger frontal air bag inflator free of charge.

• Issue: The affected vehicles have user's guides that contain incorrect information regarding the jump-start procedure, specifically, the polarity of the battery terminals are reversed in the battery terminal graphic.

• Remedy: FCA will notify owners and will replace the user's guides with a corrected version free of charge.

• Timing: The recall is expected to begin August 21, 2017. Owners may contact FCA customer service at 1-800-853-1403.

2007-2011 Nissan Versa Sedan, Versa Hatchback

• Number of vehicles affected: 515,394

• Issue: The driver frontal air bag inflator may rupture due to propellant degradation occurring after long-term exposure to moderate absolute humidity, temperatures, and temperature cycling.

• Remedy: Nissan will notify owners, and dealers will replace the subject inflator with a new one manufactured by a different supplier free of charge. Remedy parts are not currently available.

• Timing: An interim owner notification letter will be sent by the end of September 2017, followed by a second letter when remedy parts are available. Owners may contact Nissan customer service at 1-800-647-7261.

2011-2016 Toyota Tacoma
2011-2016 Toyota 4Runner

• Number of vehicles affected: 3,547

• Issue: Toyota is recalling certain 2011-2016 Toyota Tacoma and 4Runner vehicles equipped with accessory hood scoops installed by Toyota or Toyota dealers. The adhesive attaching the hood scoop may weaken, allowing the hood scoop to detach from the vehicle.

• Remedy: Toyota will notify owners, and dealers will mechanically fasten the scoop to the hood free of charge.

• Timing: The recall is expected to begin August 28, 2017. Owners may contact Toyota customer service at 1-954-429-2000.
