RCTC softball team splits pair of games on Florida trip

Mar. 4—WINTERHAVEN, Fla. — The Rochester Community and Technical College softball team split a pair of games against Bismarck State College as part of its spring trip to Florida on Monday.

The Yellowjackets won the first game 7-6 and dropped the nightcap 10-6.

In the opener, RCTC pulled out the victory by scoring three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning. Skylar Beckel hit a triple and drove in four runs.

Winning pitcher Zoey Clark went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI. She pitched a complete game and allowed earned six runs on 11 hits with six strikeouts.

Presley Newcomb went 3-for-4 with a double while Mirrah Wells was 2-for-4.

RCTC led the second game 6-4 before Bismarck scored six times in the bottom of the sixth to pull out the victory.

Clark, Wells and Bailey Monson all went 2-for-4 with a double for RCTC. Monson had two RBIs while Clark and Wells had one each.

Taylor Draegar suffered the loss. She allowed 10 runs, just four earned, on 10 hits in 5 2/3 innings.

RCTC (2-4) continues its spring trip with two more games on Tuesday.
