RCTC softball team split pair in Crossover Tournament

Mar. 30—ROCHESTER — The Rochester Community and Technical College softball team split a pair of games on Friday in the MCAC Crossover Tournament played at the RCTC Bubble.

Central Lakes College defeated RCTC 5-1 in the first game.

Aubrey Grover and Abby Zahn were both 1-for-3 with a double for the Yellowjackets while

Brynn Irish was also 1-for-3.

Taylor Draeger suffered the loss giving up five runs in seven innings on 10 hits. She struck out nine and walked two.

RCTC got its offense going in the second game with an 8-6 victory over Minnesota North College-Rainy River in nine innings.

Mirrah Wells went 2-for-5 with a triple and three RBIs. Presley Newcomb and Wells had RBI singles in the top of the ninth for RCTC to provide the winning margin.

Zoey Clark went 2-for-4 while Michaela Kern hit a double and scored two runs.

Clark was the winning pitcher. She pitched all nine innings and allowed six runs, four earned, on 13 hits. She struck out six and walked two.

RCTC will play two more games in the Crossover Tournament on Saturday when they host Rainy River at 11 a.m. and Ridgewater College at 1 p.m.
