Rays trade RHP Gibaut to Rangers

The Tampa Bay Rays traded right-hander Ian Gibaut to the Texas Rangers on Sunday for a player to be named later or cash considerations.

Gibaut, 25, made his major league debut and only appearance to date on July 12 at Baltimore. He allowed two runs on one hit in two innings, striking out two and walking two batters.

An 11th-round pick by the Rays in 2015 out of Tulane, Gibaut owns a 2.29 ERA and has averaged 11.3 strikeouts per nine innings over 155 career games in the minors.

He has been optioned to Triple-A Nashville.

To make room on the 40-man roster, the Rangers moved left-hander Jesse Biddle (shoulder fatigue) from the 10-day to the 60-day injured list.
