The Ravens made a bit of a surprise cut on Thursday and waived seventh-round draft pick Geno Stone, who was inactive for the team’s first four games of the season.
Stone was hailed as one of the steals of the draft for the Ravens, as he added depth to an otherwise shaky depth chart after the release of Earl Thomas.
Stone, a former second-team All-Big Ten Conference selection as a junior, will be on waivers through 4 p.m. Friday afternoon. If no team claims him, he can re-sign with the Ravens as a free agent to their practice squad.
Now with an open roster spot and one secondary member down, the Ravens could elevate undrafted free-agent safety Nigel Warrior to the active roster, or even bring in a veteran free agent — if COVID protocols allow.
