Ravens' Jackson ready to roll against Jets

Lamar Jackson isn't planning on being a spectator Thursday night.

The favorite for NFL Most Valuable Player honors is battling a quadriceps injury during a short week but said he would be on the field when the Baltimore Ravens host the New York Jets on the national stage.

"I feel great. I feel good. I'm 100 (percent)," Jackson told reporters on Tuesday after being a limited practice participant for the second straight day. "I'm going to be out there Thursday night."

Jackson and the Ravens (11-2) will be seeking their 10th straight victory as well as aiming to clinch the AFC North. Baltimore already clinched a playoff spot last Sunday with a win over the Buffalo Bills.

Jackson also will be trying to surpass the record for most rushing yards in a season by a quarterback. Jackson has 1,017, just 22 shy of Michael Vick's mark in 2006 as a member of the Atlanta Falcons.

"Mike Vick's my favorite player," Jackson recently told reporters. "For me to do such a thing is incredible. He had that record for a long time."

Jackson has passed for an NFL-best 28 touchdowns -- against only six interceptions -- while guiding the top-scoring offense in the league (33.1 points per game).

Stopping Jackson will be quite a task for the Jets (5-8), who have played well of late with four wins in their past five games.

However, star safety Jamal Adams (ankle) is in danger of missing the contest.

"Game-time decision," Adams told reporters. "We're going to take it from there. Obviously, I'm going to be smart with it. If I'm not ready, I'm not going to go out there if I'm not myself. But if I am, I'm going to go. Simple."

Adams missed the Jets' Sunday win over the Miami Dolphins due to the injury. He leads the Jets with 64 tackles and has 6.5 sacks.

"I'm not going to count him out," New York coach Adam Gase said of Adams. "I know where Jamal stands on it, but we have to make sure we do the right thing by him."

While the Adams situation will shake itself out, Gase is much less enamored with the actions of running back Le'Veon Bell.

Bell was ruled out of the game against the Dolphins due to the flu but decided to go bowling on Saturday night when he started to feel better.

Gase learned of the incident on Monday night and described it Tuesday as a bad look but said Bell wouldn't be disciplined.

Bell didn't seem to be too ashamed later Tuesday when he boasted that he bowled a career-high 251 while coming off the flu.

"I didn't break any rules," he said. "I wasn't a distraction until now."

Bell signed a four-year, $52.5 million deal in the offseason but has largely been a disappointment. He is averaging a career-low 3.2 yards per carry while rushing for just 589 yards and three touchdowns. Bell also has one receiving TD.

Baltimore is getting significant production from its top running back, as Mark Ingram II is just 113 yards away from the third 1,000-yard season of his career.

Ingram has a solid 4.9 average per carry and has scored 12 total touchdowns (nine rushing, three receiving) in his first season with the Ravens after eight years with the New Orleans Saints.

Baltimore coach John Harbaugh has been impressed with Ingram and cited a play against the Bills that was highly impressive.

"He caught the screen right near our bench in the second half ... and boy, he turned upfield, and I saw the look on the face and the look in his eye," Harbaugh said. "He was like a freight train coming downhill. He was running with vengeance, and it was fun to see. And I was like, 'Woo, that's impressive.' And that's what he brings to it every single time he touches the ball."

Baltimore may be without a key blocker as offensive tackle Ronnie Stanley (concussion) missed practice on Monday and Tuesday.

Jets quarterback Sam Darnold has avoided mistakes by throwing just two interceptions over the past five games -- he has thrown nine touchdown passes during that span -- after being picked off nine times over the previous four contests.

The Ravens have won eight of their past nine meetings with the Jets, though New York won the most recent meeting 24-16 in 2016.
