The Rangers announced six players were added to their taxi squad amidst the team’s COVID issues on Tuesday.

Morgan Barron, Jonny Brodzinski, Tim Gettinger, Adam Huska, Zac Jones and Matthew Robertson were listed and will serve as emergency recalls if COVID-19 causes the team to have absences that prevents it from playing a full lineup.

The Rangers placed Alexandar Georgiev, Ryan Lindgren and Jarred Tinordi in the NHL's health and safety protocol and called up Keith Kinkaid to back up Igor Shesterkin on Sunday, when all NHL teams returned to practice after entering the holiday break a day early due to the latest COVID-19 outbreak. Patrik Nemeth was initially placed in protocols on Sunday, but was cleared on Monday and is back with the team.

The taxi squad, which was used during the shortened 2021 season, is back and is set to remain in effect until at least the All-Star break in early February.

The Rangers will resume their schedule on Wednesday in Florida against the Panthers.
