Nunez, 24, is expected to join the Rangers on Monday for the series opener against the Tampa Bay Rays. The versatile Venezuelan hit 32 home runs with 78 RBIs for Triple-A Nashville in 2017 but has only 17 games of big-league experience across two seasons with Oakland.
A strained left hamstring forced Nunez to open the season on the disabled list for the A's. He hit .360 (9-for-25) with two RBIs during a six-game injury rehabilitation assignment with Nashville.
Lincecum signed a one-year contract with Texas in March but has been sidelined because of a blister on his right middle finger. The 33-year-old and two-time Cy Young Award winner has not pitched in the majors since Aug. 5, 2016.
Texas will make a corresponding move to its 25-man roster to clear a spot for Nunez before Monday's game.
