Rams’ roster needs align perfectly with strengths of 2023 draft class

As the Los Angeles Rams evaluate the 2023 NFL draft class, they’ll find that many of their primary needs are strengths of the incoming group of rookies. Among their primary needs are edge rusher, cornerback, tight end, offensive line and safety, which are positions that feature some quality prospects in the middle rounds.

In particular, the cornerback, tight end and edge rusher positions have some really good prospects for the Rams to consider drafting. NFL draft analyst Daniel Jeremiah held a conference call with beat writers on Friday and as he breaks down the incoming draft class, he sees those three positions as strengths this year.

The Rams are highly likely to draft at least one player at each of those positions, and any of them could be targeted with their first pick at No. 36 overall. The fact that the tight end position is so strong bodes well for Los Angeles with Tyler Higbee potentially being a cap casualty as he nears the end of his current contract.

The Rams could not only use a future starter at the position, but a No. 2 tight end to play alongside Higbee if he does return.

Edge rusher and cornerback are obvious needs, especially with the futures of Leonard Floyd and Jalen Ramsey up in the air. The Rams desperately need pass rushers, even if Floyd does return, and the secondary is in danger of losing Troy Hill, David Long Jr., Taylor Rapp and Nick Scott in free agency.
