Rams CB Marcus Peters wants Sean Payton to 'keep talking that s---'

Let’s go ahead and file away Los Angeles Rams cornerback Marcus Peters’ comments and revisit them during the playoffs.

New Orleans Saints coach Sean Payton might have been a little too honest about his team’s gameplan last week against the Los Angeles Rams, specifically how it centered around attacking Peters with Michael Thomas.

“They were going to travel Marcus to him, and that was fine by us,” Payton said after the Saints’ 45-35 win, via NOLA.com. “We thought we really liked that matchup — a lot.”

Even if that’s pretty obvious based on Thomas torching Peters for a franchise-record 211 yards, coaches usually don’t say it out loud.

Peters heard it, and he fired right back at Payton.

Marcus Peters has a message for Sean Payton

Peters, who isn’t exactly shy about speaking out, had a message for Payton.

“Tell Sean Payton to keep talking that s— … we will see him again,” Peters said, according to Lindsey Thiry of ESPN.

Of course, the Saints and Rams are on a collision course for another meeting in the NFC playoffs. They’re the two best teams in the conference, each with one loss.

Not that we wouldn’t have plenty of story lines if they meet again, but now we have a little more fuel.

“So tell him to keep talking’ that s—, and I hope we see you soon. You feel me? And then we going to have a good little, nice little bowl of gumbo together,” Peters added, according to Gary Klein of the LA Times.

Saints and Rams could meet again

Peters admitted after Sunday’s game, in similarly colorful language, that he hasn’t been playing well lately. He said he was healthy, and that an early-season ankle injury isn’t to blame. Just his bad play.

And Payton clearly saw the same thing on film. The Saints picked on the Thomas-Peters matchup all game.

Hopefully we’ll get a chance to see if the Saints have a similar game plan in the playoffs. It might be worth it just to see if Peters and Payton had anything to say to each other after the game.
